Superintendent Peter Gorman has released the revised 2010-11 budget plan he'll present to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board tonight. It's much like the versions that have been discussed in previous meetings, but backs off from some unpopular school-hours changes and requires students to start paying for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
See the new plan.

It would not be near as large -- or as expensive to print -- were it not 4-color for no good reason.
See you LATER CM-MESS! Due to your lack of well... intelligence... I am running away! Were my test scores wonderful... uh... HECK YES! Were my observations excpetional... uh... check, check! Am I highly qualified with multiple certifications and specialized skills... yes... Did you just lose me as an employee because you people are NUTS! Double HECK YES! It saddens me because I really ENJOY my students and teaching in the community in which I live... At the same time... I am tired of this absolute insanity and for my family's sake and mine I had to go elsewhere... ALL of the teachers from my school that have resigned have left because of CMS... they were ALL marvelous teachers... some of the best I have ever worked with and NOT in danger of being cut... they just got tired of the craziness... just like me. Will our school fall down without us? No...that would be narcissitic to think that way... but is CMS losing some of their BEST teachers (though they claim this is a move to purge the lower performers)... YES... CMS is LOSING SOME OF ITS BEST BECAUSE THEY ARE CUTTING OFF THEIR NOSE TO SPITE THEIR FACE (as my mamma would say)! Good Luck Charlotteans!
AMen to you
Well said 5:23 pm.
your post said it all anon! HECK YES!
It's tough right now for teachers because of the budget cuts. Teachers already don't make enough money considering the hard work they have to do. While I don't agree entirely with the CMS budget plan, something has to be done to increase revenue.
You say in your post "requires students to start paying for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams".
Surely it is well overdue that students should start to pay for their own IB exams - the cost is only around $65. We even pay in the UK...!

Budget cuts are terrible for everyone. We lose the best in teachers, and our kids greatly benefit from 'quality' teachers. I think that's so sad.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all of these efforts are really just and humane for all the students to pay. Education need not be very expensive.
Bureaucracy gone mad... It amazes me how pen-pushers can be so blind and worse, the policy makers being so disconnected from reality...
I hope the budget plan will cater to all the needs of the people concern.
It's definitely not easy to create a budget plan because you have a lot of
things to consider. But anyway, good luck!
