The 2010 Census highlights the growth and diversity of North Carolina and Charlotte over the last decade, the Observer's Jim Morrill reports in Sunday's paper. Among the findings:
- Charlotte's nonwhite population rose above 50 percent for the first time. The same happened in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
- Once-small suburban towns have exploded in population. Huntersville now has more people than Hickory.
- Indian Trail in Union County and Mooresville in Iredell County, both fast-growing suburbs, eclipsed their respective county seats in population.

They give percentages but no numbers or how they came up with this plus omit selective critera such as influx & white flight.
Its also odd Greensboro or Winston Salem say zippo about this whatsoever.
Looks like "poodle" Morrill and a few of his crackhead pals at UNCC grabbed a few figs out of the air to make it look good for the DNC convention.

Some of those towns have grown due to major undemocratic annexation abuse. NC has the most liberal annexation laws in the nation. Greedy municipalities take advantage to take 70-80% of their land and population against the peoples will doubling taxes in the process. Laws need to be changed in Raleigh.

Based on this blog & article it's pretty clear why public libraries and schools are being defunded.
Makes sense why the Observer ignores Conservatives and does not have even one Conservative Writer or Editorial Board Member. They can see why bother.
To 12:51, the haters here are likely not norther transplants but southern nativists who can't stand the fact that the white protestant aristocracy is quickly losing its grip around here. I'm sure many upper middle class blacks and hispanics, along with their fellow well to do white, asian and middle eastern sompanions will keep the taz base OK for many years to come.
