Mecklenburg County Commission chair Jennifer Roberts today released a statement detailing the county's final payment to former Area Mental Health Director Grayce Crockett.
It included $31,095 of accrued vacation and sick leave. The county also paid her salary through Jan. 11, the effective date of her resignation. The remainder of the $99,330 was a negotiated amount of additional vacation and sick leave.
"I believe the decision to pay the negotiated amount of additional vacation and sick leave was appropriately made to protect Mecklenburg County's legal interest and allow the County Manager to effect an immediate change in the leadership of Area Mental Health," Roberts said.

Call it what it is: Hush money to one of Harry's lackeys.
This is typical of how the county manager poorly manages his resources.
"Mecklenburg County's Legal Interest"? What about the taxpayer getting the truth? I want o hear What Grayce knows.
Grayce Crockett evidently paid the price of being "the fall guy" r/t the problems with OPEN DOOR. I have known her for many years as a County director and know for a fact she has always had the best interests of our consumers at the forefront. Sometimes good people get the blame for problems not known to them (full disclosure) of event/details. It is a shame for her and a loss for the mental health/DD/SA community.
Okay now that we know where the money is. She is not going to give it back. If they make Harry resigned then we will be paying him too. So let's just move on. Kids have to miss education because of the lack of teachers, and libaries, while people work the system with mental health and substance abuse problems. The Govement is broke, so now why are we looking for monies that we can't get back
Well, I guess we ALL know this means she is backing ol Harry as usual!
Roberts is just as crooked as Jones if not MORE!
Great post! Keep it up the good work and also keep posting.
