Turner letter: 'Blatant disregard' of orders

The N.C. Department of Corrections approved of Warren Turner's "secondary employment" as a city councilman, with this caveat:

He could not be called off his duties as a probation officer during work hours for city duties.

In his termination letter released today, the state cited numerous examples of Turner's "blatant disregard" of that order.

The state based part of its investigation on phone records in which Turner apparently conducted hours of city business while on the clock.

"During your scheduled work hours for April 2010, you made or received 308 phone calls on your secondary employment cell phone from the City of Charlotte. These calls totaled 2040 minutes, or 34 hours, and included calls to known City of Charlotte officials or employees."

The nine-page letter also details a "falsification" by Turner in the case of a probationer, and "serious deficiencies" in his work performance.

Oh, they've got him by the short hairs. I was very impressed by the thoroughness of his supervisor's documentation. I was less impressed by Turner's actions. He needed to be fired and if he thinks he's going to get this overturned upon appeal, he's dreaming. Of course, his lawyer won't mind taking his money but that assumes he'll get paid. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Wow. Talk about damning evidence and documentation, this is it.

And the arrogance of Turner to leave a meeting in which he was cautioned about improper behavior and go right out and get back on his city-issued cell phone. Is he stupid or what? The man knows DOC is monitoring him, and it's like he's just thumbing his nose at them.

I don't see any way Turner's going to get reinstated with DOC. Some lean times are ahead for him, cause I don't imagine he can live on city council salary. Plus, any mediation is going to take a while. The first step will be to deny his appeal, then it'll go to the next step.

Oh, and claiming overtime pay for hours he didn't even work? A major no-no, otherwise known as falsifying time records, aka "stealing" from your employer. Lucky he didn't get criminal charges filed against him.

Adios, Turner.

Too bad the same investigator wasnt hired to investigate the claims of sexual harrassment from 5 female employees from this terrorizing jumbo sized rodent who lied about it but got off the hook after the biased corrupt mayor covered his backside.

Wow - Warren Turner's sense of entitlement is amazing. I hope his days as a councilman will soon be over, but with Charlotte voters...

Warren is such a playa. A playa, playa, playa.

This guys is GONE! He won't have to pay for a lawyer though, just like the rest of 'em, he'll find some way to get help for FREE!

Warren is just an example of what is wrong in politics-ALL BELIEVE THEMSELVES TO BE ABOVE THE LAW. Look at Jim Black-above the law.
Kindseys recent statement-'she controls the law.' How Democrats protects 'their own' (Rangle, Kennedy, Obama, Reid, etc)and allow them thru 'protections' to continue be above the law. And democratic voters continue to vote-them-in regardless of what-they-have-done! The ONLY answer: get rid of ALL democrats...and oh, this will be showing in a theater-near-you-in-November, 2010

It doesn't matter what Turner does and HE KNOWS IT! Most democrats KNOW they can get away with just about anything, including murder, (anyone know Teddy Kennedy)and voters will continue to re-elect them.
Until people take responsibility for their actions and people get out of the entitlement mentatility, we will continue to have this happen.
I am Turner will continue to be able to serve on the city countil and will be overwhelmingly voted in by his peeps...

Now that this lack of professional conduct on the behalf of probation officers has been brought to the surface. All of the probation officers should be investigated. Their are several young men and women locked up for probation violations due to inaccuracies entered into the system by lazy probation officers.

This is disgrace.

I believe Turner got what he deserved because he has been a terrible representative. But the real disgrace is the cruel and bigoted comments left on this site. As long as people have such narrow minds and allow such venom to spew from their words then it is clear society is in trouble. It is extremely sad that people are so party oriented that they can only see with such limited vision. Any fool could see what the Bush administration did and the damage to this country it caused. The sad part is allowing bigotry to continue to run rampart in our midst.

My hat is off to the supervisors who spent a tremendous number of hours compiling the information, counseling the employee, and documenting it all in a most effective manner. Not only does it appear that Warren wasted a lot of taxpayer dollars by conducing non-State business on State time, but the supervisors time to document his conduct was costly to the taxpayers. High praise to the DOC supervisors in this case.

How many violent criminals were free to repeatedly victimize more innocent people while Turner fiddled?
