it looks nothing like the track we have now. The track has one side of metal bleachers and nothing else. If you are talking architectural style, then yes, I suppose so. They wanted to build it so that it blended in with the rest of campus, especially the research institute since that is where it will be located.
chris, i know you werent slighting elon or uncc. i have a buddy from high school that plays at elon and i have seen the stadium first hand. its just to small for a college program. even my buddy agrees after playing 4 years there
For "athletics" its University of North Carolina at Charlotte. What an incredibly strong wonderful great sounding original one of a kind name that is.
Or the standard abbreviation, UNCC or UNC-Charlotte.
This is will never change in a million years in spite of the frivilous attempt at the cheap PR gimmick abbreviation that really makes the school sound cheapo or copycatish.

ReplyDeleteIt likely will be similar to Elon's Rhodes Stadium, which is a very nice facility.

Also....the renderings for the 40,000 seat stadium that it will expand into are VERY IMPRESSIVE
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteMy comment wasn't meant as a slight on UNCC or Elon. Rhodes Stadium would be a good model and a good starting point.
PS- I'm not an Elon guy, I'm just sayin'
You are correct Elon's stadium is very nice. This one looks similar. That is definitely the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI think this is remarkable! It is consistent with the campus architecture, and has the option to expand if we go to the FBS one day.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to plop myself down in one of those seats!

go niners!!! i am looking forward to a sunny, winter, afternoon college football game at CHARLOTTE in 2013!!!
ReplyDeleteget your popcorn ready...we are CHARLOTTE!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not concerned with the stadium renderings. I would sit in a lounge chair to watch a Charlotte football game!
ReplyDeleteFor athletics, it is Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what an Architecture student can do with Sketchup.

NC football is lame. Get Chapel Hill up and running before Charlotte embarrasses the state even more.
